Mahama doesn't understand the constitution - Akufo-Addo

Nana Akufo-Addo, the presidential candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party, has blasted President John Mahama for describing him as a divisive leader who would destool chiefs if he became president.
Mahama had said at a National Democratic Congress (NDC) rally at Suhum in the Eastern Region that Akufo’s divisiveness would lead him to destool chiefs who would criticise his government if he won power.
But in a reaction, Akufo-Addo said if Mahama understood the constitution, he would have known that the president did not have the power to destool chiefs.
“Ghana has gone past the era where a sitting President could destool a Chief. Judicial Committees of Traditional Councils are the only ones who can destool a chief, and not a President,” he said.
Akufo-Addo urged Mahama to be abreast of the Constitution and have it at his fingertips instead making what he called unfortunate statements.
