Gossip: Chelsea to target Aguero in the summer

CHELSEA TO TRY AND SIGN AGUERO
It was predictable that Sergio Aguero’s recent spell on the Manchester City bench would provoke widespread rumours over his future, and Sunday’s papers bring them all. We have talk of Inter, Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid, but also Chelsea.
The People say that Antonio Conte is ‘ready to beat Real Madrid’ to Aguero’s signature, which is a pokey shout. They also say that the likely fee for Aguero is £75m, which is a heck of a lot of money for a player who will be 29 by the time he moves.
Also, is Aguero really the striker to replace Diego Costa if he leaves?

MARTIAL WORRIED HE’S BEING FORCED OUT
And that’s a story you can now read about right here. Lucky buggers.

ASENSIO TO UNITED?
Classic Daily Star work this. ‘Jose Mourinho told to pay up if he wants this Real Madrid ace at Man United,’ reads their headline.
The story contains no quotes, even from a source. It contains no evidence that Real Madrid want to sell Marco Asensio. It contains no evidence that Manchester United want to sign Asensio. What it does say is that anyone who does want to sign him will have to pay an awful lot of money.
Given that he’s a young player at Real Madrid with a bright future, that’s hardly a surprise is it?

CARRICK NOT GETTING A NEW DEAL?
One more interesting line coming out of Manchester United concerns Michael Carrick. It actually stems from quotes made by Jose Mourinho:
“Let’s be honest. I have seen many positives in Carrick. But I cannot go to his identity card and delete five years. Michael is not 30.”
In the Sunday Mirror, Simon Mullock uses those quotes as evidence that the midfielder will not be offered a new contract. That makes sense, really.

AND THE REST
Arsene Wenger, will sign a new contract with Arsenal, according to former player Martin Keown… Manchester United will have to pay £50m for defender Victor Lindelof after Benfica paid to have a minimum release fee clause removed the from the Swede’s contract… Julian Draxler has urged his Germany team-mate Mesut Ozil to join him at Paris St-Germain next season… Bayer Leverkusen playmaker Hakan Calhanoglu is close to agreeing a move to Chelsea, with the transfer set to go through in the summer… Everton and Tottenham are both interested in signing Feyenoord striker Ozancan Kokcu, according to his agent… Leeds could make a £2.5m approach for Liverpool’s 20-year-old winger Ryan Kent.
